Lidia has already sent us another wonderful post for our school about her Halloween experience. Let´s read her news :
Howdy y'all!
Last time I wrote to tell about a singular celebration here in America, Thanksgiving.
Now my update is about something you guys celebrate in Spain as well.
Yep. Halloween here is so much fun. People take it very seriously.
Most of the houses are decorated with carved pumpkins, spider-webs and spooky stuff in general. Some people take more time than others haha.
Even the people that stay home dress up like a whole lot of different things which includes not just scary things but superheroes, food (yes, dressing up your dog as a wiener-dog is a fact) and in general just characters from movies and books.
Apart from my fun trick-or-treating night with the internationals we had different activities.
On Halloween almost everybody wore a costume to school (even the teachers) and it was a really good mood.
There was a costume contest, a free meal for everyone and a candy-throw from the balcony by courtesy of the leadership team (which is the one that always organizes all this kind of public activities at school).
The previous week there was a Halloween Dance at the High school (for the first year) that was so much fun and a Spook Trail two days before that.
Late in the afternoon the school was all decorated on the inside like a haunted house and the people organizing it were dressed up really scary ready to give us all afraid for 2 dollars!
I had enough of creepy time as well in the Zombie Manor, a profesional haunted Hause atraction in the City of Moncton. I went there with my host-mum and my friends and we had a hard time going through all the different rooms but it was quite worthy!
And our caring and loving coordinator of the international students organized a trip to the Corn Maze in a town nearby called Salisbury.
It was so much fun, people kept suddenly jumping out from in between the corn and they would even try to chase you with a chainsaw (fake one obviously hehe)
We didn't take any day off from school during Halloween but that's okay because I had a lot of fun.
I'll try to send you some photos you can post on the blog but you can just show them in class if not.
Next update will be about Remembrance day which is coming up soon and the great event at high school: the spring musical.
I hope you all had a great Halloween!
Wow, Lidia, it sounds so much scary fun!! I'm glad you are having such a good time there, and thank you so much for sharing it with us!
